This website is designed to support you by offering useful articles and invaluable tips on parenting 'the sensory way'.
At Baby Sense®, we know a baby develops best when she is calm and rested and calming a baby is not always easy and sleep problems do occur. Parenting is the one vocation in life for which there is no training, feeling isolated or out of depth is a feeling most moms experience at some stage in baby’s first year.
Baby Sense® provides not only sleep, calming and development solutions in the best selling baby care book Baby Sense but calming baby care products and services for parents too.
Welcome to the hub of sensible sensory parenting.

I remember lying back on pillows and drinking in Alex's softness and tiny baby sounds. I can still feel that sense of awe when James smiled at me. My babies, my loves, you made me high!
There is nothing like those early baby days to make you feel like you are on a rollercoaster. One moment you may be in tears, not knowing how to calm your newborn and the next a high overwhelms you from nowhere and all it took was your baby's smile.
This month in the medical journal Pediatrics, doctors reveal the secrets behind those emotions. Using MRI brain imaging they found that the areas of a mother's brain that respond to her new baby when he smiles are the same areas that respond to drugs and a baby's smile literally makes his mom high.
So now the saying "you light up my life" has been proven to be true – babies light up their mom's brains.
My own firstborn baby was born on the 13th August ten years ago. A big, busy rugby-passionate boy now, who fights me when I ask him to do his homework or to feed the dogs and who hates brushing his teeth... BUT still loves a cuddle and his smile is still the one that lights up my brain.
We wish you all many Happy Days and Peaceful Nights.

NEWS
If your baby has older siblings you will now be in the middle of their summer school holidays. 6 weeks is a long time to have to entertain your children if you are not used to having them around all the time, but luckily the weather looks as if it should be improving for August, so get out and about in your community as much as possible. If you are going abroad or travelling with your baby see Ann Richardson’s article on Traveling with your baby that appeared in August last year on our website and how to get your baby to sleep in a strange environment
Whether you stay here in the UK or go abroad this summer please ensure you use sunscreen on your tots. It is recommended to use at least factor 30 on young children and factor 50 on young babies. Babies under a year should be kept out of the sun. Hats and sun cream should be a standard item in your changing bag.
